The Course

Participants can choose from 3 challenges: 10km, 21km or 42.195km. You can start running from your front door, along your favourite training course or on your local athletics track. Due to the current situation, we have decided not to signpost the Port of Antwerp Night Marathon course. We are calling on you to do lots of running in your own neighbourhoods.

The course of the new Antwerp Night Marathon will take you straight through the city centre of Antwerp. And that is meant to be taken literally! Not a single Antwerp landmark will get overlooked. Moreover, the course will take you past several hidden treasures in the heart of the city.

After starting on the Vlaamse Kaai, you will pass by various iconic Antwerp landmarks such as the Central Station, the Boerentoren, the MAS and the Port Authority building. After 42 or 21 unique kilometres, you will cross the finish line on the Scheldekaaien Sint-Andries. The half marathon also stays in the heart of the city, in the zone between the Vlinderpaleis (Federal Courthouse) and the Port Authority building.

Preparation & Minimum Age

  • The organiser would like to advise against exercising too strenuously when you are not physically prepared for that level of exercise.
  • Make sensible choices about the distance that you select to run and/or the pace at which you put your body through the challenge.
  • We would also recommend that those individuals who are focused on performance and want to do high-intensity training get an annual check-up with their (sports medicine) doctor.
  • It is not compulsory to submit a medical certificate. It is the athlete himself/herself who decides how best to deal with the information provided during a medical check-up. The organiser cannot be held accountable for anything relating to this matter.
  • You can find more information about health & exercising here.
  • Additionally, the organisation has set the following minimum ages:
    • Marathon: 18
    • Half Marathon: 16
